Vent: My shellac bloomed on a humid day in Charleston
I was finishing a walnut table and the whole surface went cloudy after the second coat. I fixed it by wiping it down with a rag dampened with denatured alcohol, but it was a close call. Anyone have a better method for high humidity?

Shellac and humidity are old enemies.

Old enemies" is a bit strong, it's more like a bad roommate situation. Humidity doesn't ruin shellac, it just makes it dry cloudy. That cloudiness is moisture trapped in the finish. The good news is it's not permanent. When the air dries out, that cloudiness often just goes away on its own. If it doesn't, a light rub with some alcohol on a rag can usually fix it.

What did you expect trying to shellac in a swamp? Owens.ben is right, it's a classic fight. Honestly, your alcohol wipe was a solid save. My only extra tip is to work in the coolest part of the day, like super early, and pray the air feels dry. Sometimes you just have to accept the weather will win.
