Question about my dad's 'buy a house now' advice from 2020
He said to ignore the high prices and just get in, but now my mortgage is $3,200 a month and I'm house-poor. Anyone else get burned by older generation 'just tough it out' financial advice?

That advice worked great when a starter home cost two years salary, not ten.

My uncle gave me the same advice in 2019 and I'm still kicking myself. patricia317 is right, their whole idea of a fair price is just gone now. It feels like a lot of that old school advice is based on a world that doesn't exist anymore.
