TIL my grandpa's VCR fix-it marathon highlighted our generational clock

He refused to toss the old player and spent hours rewinding tape. I sat there thinking about how I could have watched three movies online in that time. Why do some folks see waiting as a virtue while others see it as wasted minutes?

Yeah, this isn't just about VCRs. I notice my dad will drive across town to save a few bucks on gas, but I'd just pay extra for the convenience. It's like older folks see time as something you spend to save money, while we see money as something you spend to save time. Why do you think that shift happened so fast?

Notice my mom does the same thing, felix147. She'll spend an hour clipping coupons to save five bucks. For me, that hour is worth way more than five dollars. I mean, maybe it's because we grew up with everything being faster? Like, you can get food or a ride in minutes now, so waiting feels like a bigger waste. Idk, my time just feels more limited than my money most days.

Patient folks value the process itself.
