Update: A chat with my neighbor who grows corn shifted my view on modified crops.

I mean, sometimes tweaking plant genes just feeds more people, you know?

My cousin runs a small farm in Nebraska and says modified seeds often come with contracts that control what he can plant. It feels like feeding people gets tied up in corporate rules, not just science, lol.

Heard about a buddy who couldn't even save his own seeds, lol.

Honestly, I saw this article about how some of those seed contracts can be super strict. It wasn't just about not saving seeds, but they could even tell the farmer where to sell their crop. Tbh it does feel like the science part gets lost when a company has that much control. Ngl, that kind of stuff makes the whole argument way more complicated than just "good science" or "bad science." It's a real mess.
