I thought granite was just boring countertop stuff.
Then I found a piece with huge feldspar crystals on a trail. Now I see why rock hounds get so into it.

Call me crazy but granite stays boring even with crystals in it.

Granite really does keep its boring rep, @robin594. Even with all those sparkly bits, it's just so common everywhere you look. Compare it to something like obsidian with its glassy shine, and granite feels like the plain cousin. Sure, the pink feldspar is nice, but it doesn't change the whole lumpy vibe.

Last summer, I picked up what I thought was plain quartz until it sparkled in the sun. Turned out to be mica flakes all over it! @robin594 might still find rocks dull, but that moment got me hooked. Now I always check gravel driveways for interesting bits. Found a piece of granite with pink feldspar just last week!
