Coworker keeps bringing Carolina Reaper dip to potlucks and it's selfish
He knows most people can't handle it, but he gets a kick out of watching us suffer. Last week, two people had to call in sick the next day because their stomachs were wrecked. I think bringing food that hurts people is just showing off, not sharing. We're here to eat lunch, not prove how tough we are.

You hit on something I see all the time. It's not just potlucks. Some folks use any group setting to show off, even if it means others can't join in. I call it performance sharing, where the point isn't to give but to prove something. Like bringing music so loud no one can talk, or planning hikes too hard for most friends. It changes a nice time into a test. That dip is just another example where one person's kick ruins the event for everyone else.

Hey @julia_rodriguez92, what if that extra effort actually makes things more interesting for everyone? Someone bringing a complex dip or planning a tough hike might just be trying to share a new experience, not show off. It could push the group to try something different and create better memories.

Read that, @julia_rodriguez92, and felt my soul leave my body.
