My neighbor found some old pottery while gardening, and I'm not sure what to do.

Wish I agreed with @kim.mason, but telling someone to stop digging in their own yard never works. Letting his kids help is how people actually get interested in history, even if it's messy.

I recently admired the brick lattice in Morocco and have a question.

Do they use secret glue or something? I'd mess up that pattern in two seconds flat. Glad we have pros for this stuff.

Learning load calcs with pencil and paper. Keeping that habit found a flaw in a computer plan yesterday.

Totally get that, doing things by hand forces you to actually think through each step. Found the same thing checking a duct layout last month, the software had a fitting loss totally wrong. Spent an hour with the manual and a calculator, proved it was off. That stuff is boring but it saves your butt lol. The computer just does what it's told, even if the input is garbage.

Appreciation post: Mental health chats on the dive boat feel normal now

On my last contract in the Bahamas, mental health was still a taboo topic. The seasoned divers would brush off any talk of stress as weakness. I watched a rookie shake for an hour after a close call and nobody said a word. He just smoked alone on the stern until we docked. That was in 2022, so this shift you mention definitely isn't universal. Some crews might chat now, but in my world, that old silence is still the norm.

My indoor plants got healthier when I stopped misting them

Did you find certain types of plants got worse with misting, like succulents or ferns? I had a weird mold show up on the soil of my peace lily when I was spraying it every day. What do you do now for plants that actually need more humidity, just use a pebble tray instead?
