In my experience, about 7 out of 10 people I see at a job or helping a friend squeeze the trigger on a caulk gun like they're trying to win a prize. They pull it all the way back in one go. This creates a huge, messy bead that's impossible to control and wastes a ton of material. The right way is short, steady pulls, maybe an inch of trigger travel at a time.
