The 2016 reboot just felt like a cheap cash grab. They tried to force jokes that never landed. Why mess with a classic formula that already works?

The 2016 movie is actually a reboot, not an update of the original story. It has a completely new cast of characters in a new timeline. The original team from the 80s doesn't exist in that world. A real update would have been something like Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which continued the old story.
