I finally saw the bill for my kid's college and it hit me how many jobs are gone.
It was over $28,000 for the semester, and I realized my old roofing crew of five guys could be done by two people and a robot arm now. Does anyone else get that sinking feeling that the jobs we're training kids for might not even be there to pay back these loans?

Man, that's a gut punch. What was your kid's major, if you don't mind me asking? I wonder if some degrees are more at risk from automation than others, like maybe accounting software versus hands-on nursing.

At risk from automation" feels overblown. Tech changes jobs, but it doesn't just delete whole fields overnight. People said the same thing about spreadsheets and calculators.
