Vent: I was totally burning my air fryer potatoes for months
I kept getting these dark, hard bits while the inside was still raw. My sister came over last Tuesday and watched me just dump the chopped potatoes in dry. She said, 'You're not tossing them in a little oil first?' I felt so dumb. I tried it with a tablespoon of olive oil and they came out perfect and crispy. Has anyone else had a simple step they were missing that made a huge difference?

Classic case of skipping the most obvious step. At least you figured it out before you burned the house down.

Exactly what @amy_adams13 said. This happens everywhere, people overcomplicate stuff trying to be clever and miss the simple fix right in front of them. You see it with tech, with cooking, with basic life admin. It's like our brains are wired to jump to the hard solution first. Glad the house is still standing, at least.

Totally feel this lol. The number of times I've been halfway through some crazy fix before checking if the thing was even plugged in is embarrassing. My rule now is to stop and do the dumbest check first, like actually looking at the power strip. Saves so much time and panic. It's like our pride gets in the way of just admitting the simple answer might be right.
