Found out anime pacing math is wild once you break it down

I was checking how many episodes Frieren covers per manga chapter and it turns out the anime stretches some chapters into 1.5 episodes, but the route to the first exam arc in season 1 covers about 40 chapters in 18 episodes. That pacing is way denser than something like One Piece's 3 chapters per episode average. Has anyone else looked up the actual chapter-to-episode ratio for their favorite show and been surprised how much gets cut?

My math skills are so bad I once calculated my own weekly watch time wrong by like 40 episodes, so yeah, this kind of breakdown just makes me nod and pretend I understand numbers.
