Guy at my local anime meetup in Portland told me to skip the OP every time, and it bugged me for weeks
We were standing in line for the ramen truck and he said openings exist to sell singles, not to be watched, which honestly felt like a weird rule to hand a stranger. A month later I tried it his way on a rewatch of FMA Brotherhood and the show felt way more like homework. Do you all skip openings or sit through them every time?
That guy was actually right though, and I say that as someone who loves a good opening. Think about it from a story point of view. Most OPs are just the show's greatest hits set to a song, and they spoil stuff that hasn't happened yet. The third OP of Brotherhood literally shows characters before they even show up, so you already know they matter. That's a real spoiler, not a vibe. And you can always go back and watch them after you finish. It hits way harder when you know who everyone is and what they went through.
