Showerthought: My hand pruners vs my neighbor's bypass loppers on the same job

Neighbor asked me to help with his overgrown dogwood in Portland. He hands me this cheap bypass lopper. I had my Felco hand pruners. We both took the same size branches. His loppers crushed the wood. My pruners made clean cuts. Why spend money on bulky gear when a good hand tool does it better? Anyone else notice this with cutting tools on smaller stuff?

Hold on, crushed wood from a bypass lopper? That's insane, those are supposed to slice cleanly.

Yeah crushed wood from a bypass lopper is definitely a sign of cheap junk. Those things are supposed to slice clean like scissors not mangle the branch. Makes you wonder what kind of walmart special he dug out of his garage. Bet your Felco cuts felt like butter compared to that mess. Guess that's what happens when people buy hardware store garbage instead of the real stuff.
