Visited an old growth grove in Oregon last week that felt like walking into a different century
I went out to a patch of old growth Douglas fir near Tillamook that a buddy told me about. The trees there are probably 400 plus years old and the bark alone is thicker than my arm. It got me thinking how different our work is now compared to the guys who first climbed those trees with just ropes and spikes. Has anyone else visited a spot that made you stop and appreciate the older trees we work with?

That patch near Tillamook with 400 year old Douglas firs sounds incredible. I remember hiking through a spot on the Olympic Peninsula where the Western red cedars were so big you could feel the ground shake when the wind blew. Makes you think about all the logging that went through here before we knew better. The old growth we have left is like a time capsule from before chainsaws and roads changed everything.

That timber fed families and built whole towns though.
