My dad's backyard digging almost wrecked a native burial site... be careful

I need to share this because family projects can really harm hidden history. My dad was digging a new flower bed last spring and hit some strange bones and pottery pieces. He almost tossed them out thinking they were trash... but I told him to stop. We called the local archaeology group and they confirmed it was an old burial ground. His digging messed up the layers that tell the story of who was there. Now I'm seeing friends post about similar finds during home renos. Please, if you find odd stuff in the ground, don't move it and get expert help first.

My cousin in Arizona hit something similar last year. He called the tribal council right away. Now that site is protected and studied properly.

The part about the tribal council is key. Protected doesn't always mean public access is gone, just managed right. It can stop looters but still let people learn from it.

But what if the site gets locked away forever, @logan_gonzalez?
