Hit 1000 sales on my Etsy shop this morning and I still don't know how
I started this little shop in Portland two years ago just to move some old prints I had lying around. Today I woke up to the notification that I crossed 1000 sales while I was asleep. It's not a ton of money but seeing that number made me feel like I actually built something real. Has anyone else had a milestone sneak up on them like that?

Wait, hold on. 1000 sales in two years? That's like... one sale every day and a half? I mean, I guess it's fine, but it's not exactly a rocket ship taking off. Are you sure you actually built something "real" or did you just get lucky with a few random customers who liked one print? It kind of sounds like you're making a big deal out of a small thing (like, is 1000 really that many in two years?).

Whoa, slow down there. I get where you're coming from but I see it totally different. 1000 sales in two years is pretty legit for a side thing someone started with old prints. That's not just luck, that's people consistently finding and buying your stuff. Most small shops on Etsy never hit that number at all. You don't have to be blowing up like a rocket for something to be real. A sale every day and a half means someone in the world liked what you made enough to buy it, and that adds up to a real business.
