Was dead set against meal prepping until I smashed my phone into the floor during a 10pm grocery run last Tuesday
Standing in the cereal aisle with a half-empty list and realizing I'd already spent $45 on stuff I'd probably forget to cook made me finally spend Sunday chopping veggies, and now I'm actually eating leftovers without wanting to cry.

Had the exact same meltdown in the pasta aisle last month, totally get it. I was standing there holding a jar of sauce and a bag of spinach, just staring at my phone like it owed me money. The 10pm grocery run is where all good intentions go to die, seriously. But now that I actually prepped some chopped peppers and onions on Sunday, I'm making stir fry in like 10 minutes flat after work. It doesn't feel like a chore anymore, it just feels like I'm finally adulting without hating every second of it.

Started doing the same thing with mason jar salads on Sundays and it changed everything. Just throw some chopped stuff in a jar, dump it out when I'm hungry and it looks like I have my life together. Took me three weeks of forgetting to even buy the ingredients before it became a habit though, so don't beat yourself up if you skip a week. The ten minute meal thing is real once you get rolling, it kind of tricks your brain into thinking cooking is easy again. Sticking to just two or three prepped things made it way less overwhelming than trying to meal prep everything at once.

oh man the "ten minute meal thing" part got me. i used to be one of those people who thought meal prep was for instagram influencers with nothing better to do. but i tried the mason jar thing myself last week and i swear @simonp47 you're right, it does trick your brain. i threw together some chopped cucumber, cherry tomatoes, and that pre cooked chicken from the deli section. felt dumb doing it sunday night but then tuesday i just grabbed the jar and ate at my desk instead of spending 15 bucks on a sad sandwich. still not consistently doing it but at least i get the hype now.
