I got called out for my primer work on a '68 Mustang hood
A guy at the shop in Toledo said my primer looked like orange peel before I even started sanding. I switched to a slower reducer and held the gun a bit closer, maybe 8 inches away. What's your go-to trick for getting that smooth first coat right?

Try ten inches, not eight.

Bigger isn't always better, trust me.

Switching to a slower reducer was a good move! I always check my air pressure and do a test pass on some cardboard first. Getting that distance right makes all the difference.
