Never knew PPG had a 30 year warranty on their clear until last month

My old neighbor had a PPG clear coat failure on his truck back in 2019. He called the number on the warranty card and they sent a guy out to measure the paint thickness. Took about three weeks, but they repainted the whole hood and fender at no cost. He just had to show the original purchase receipt from the body shop. I kept that same paperwork in my glovebox ever since, just in case.

Oh wow, that's wild... I had no idea they actually sent someone out to measure the paint like that. I guess it makes sense though, they gotta check if it's a real defect or if it was just wear and tear. That receipt thing is smart, I never think to keep that stuff but you never know when you'll need it. Kinda makes me wish I had checked my own clear coat before the warranty ran out, guess I gotta just eat the cost now if it ever flakes on me.
