Saw a classic car show in Springfield with some really clean panel gaps

Went to the downtown car show in Springfield last weekend. Spent an hour just looking at the bodywork on a restored '57 Chevy. The gaps on the hood and doors were perfect, like maybe a 1/16th inch all around. Made me think about how much time I spend on my own alignment jobs. Anyone have a go-to trick for getting that kind of consistency on a modern car?

Yeah, that "good enough" thing is everywhere now. I mean, I see it with stuff like furniture or even phone chargers, where things just don't line up or fit right. It's like the goal shifted from making something solid to just making it work for a little while. Makes you appreciate when someone actually cares about the small details.

That kind of precision is getting rare. Feels like everything's built to be good enough now, not perfect.

That "good enough" attitude is exactly why @finleyf88's take hits different.
