Serious question, why does everyone treat hvlp like it's the only way to paint now

I still use my old siphon feed gun from the 90s and get better coverage on most jobs. Tried my buddy's hvlp setup last month on a 2015 Toyota Camry bumper and had to do three extra coats to match the finish. Has anyone else stuck with the old stuff or am I just being stubborn?

Exactly, my 1998 siphon gun still lays down smoother than any hvlp I've borrowed.

Newer isn't always better, same with phones and software updates that break perfectly good stuff.
