Am I the only one who used to over-torque lug nuts like crazy?

For years I'd crank them down with my impact gun until they wouldn't move, thinking tighter was safer. Then a buddy showed me a warped rotor from a Ford Explorer last month with the bolts torqued to 150 ft-lbs and it finally clicked. Who else learned this one the hard way?

Nah, is it really that big of a deal though? I've been cranking mine down with a breaker bar for 20 years and never had a rotor warp or a wheel fall off, but your buddy's case might've been a freak thing.

Used to think the same way @rowan_roberts49 but torque wrench showed me I was wrong.
