Spent $80 on a 'universal' O2 sensor socket that didn't fit a single car in the shop

The package said it worked on every four wire sensor from 1996 to 2023, but the walls were too thick to fit into the recess on any of the three vehicles I tried it on. I had to run out and buy the specific tool anyway, making the whole trip a waste of money and an hour. Has anyone found a decent brand for these that isn't junk?

Maybe you just got a bad one... my universal socket has worked on like five different cars.

Maybe they're just making them worse now to sell more specific tools?

Sounds like you just got a bad tool or maybe didn't try hard enough. My cheap universal one has fit every sensor I've thrown at it, even on my old truck and my neighbor's newer sedan. Sometimes you just need to wiggle it a bit or use a different extension to get the right angle.
