I finally stopped paying for enclosed transport on beaters and a dispatcher in Tulsa made me rethink it
A dispatcher I use out of Tulsa pointed out that I was paying $600 extra for enclosed shipping on cars worth maybe $2,500, and honestly he was right that open transport gets the job done fine for anything I'm not restoring. Now I only go enclosed for stuff with fresh paint, which saved me $1,800 across four moves last quarter. Anyone else split their fleet this way or do you just enclose everything to keep it simple?
What's the price gap look like on the shorter runs though? I've noticed enclosed versus open gets a lot closer once you're only going 200 miles instead of 800.
