Called out on my crimp terminals after 5 years in avionics

Always did the tug test on my crimps. Thought that was enough. Then a quality inspector named Pete at a shop in Denver showed me his microscope. Had nicks and fractures I never saw. Turns out I was using the wrong die size for the wire gauge. Felt like a complete idiot. Anyone else get humbled by a QC guy?

Pete probably saved your next job with that microscope, huh?

Man, I've been there. A cheap USB microscope saved me from tearing up the wrong area on a job once. I just held it up to the subfloor to check for moisture damage before I started cutting, and sure enough, there was a spot I would have missed. It's one of those tools you don't think you need until it keeps you from a big mistake.
