Had a date ask me how many kids I wanted before the appetizer came
Met this girl on Hinge in Austin. Five minutes in she asked if I want 2 kids or 3. I said I don't even know what I want for dinner yet. She got quiet and the rest was awkward silence. Has anyone else had someone jump to serious stuff way too fast?

Hold up, I gotta say something different here. Maybe she wasn't trying to be heavy on purpose, maybe she just panicked and picked the wrong thing to say. I once had a first date where the guy was so nervous he blurted out he had a kid from a previous relationship before I even ordered water, then spent the whole meal apologizing for it. Sometimes people just word vomit without thinking, especially if they're already anxious about the date.

Why is it so BAD for someone to know what they want? If she's dating to find a husband and have a family, why waste time on someone who isn't on the same page? You could have saved yourself the whole awkward dinner and a check if you'd just said "zero" or "six" and seen how she reacted.
