Hit my 10th date where someone brought up their ex within the first 20 minutes

I keep a running tally in my notes app. 10 dates in 2 years, every single one of them dropped an ex story before the appetizers even showed up. Last one was at a diner on 3rd street, she spent 15 minutes talking about her ex's weird sock collection. Is this just the standard now or am I attracting a certain type?

Honestly I used to think the same way. Thought if you really liked someone you'd just make it work no matter what. But then I had a friend who went on like twelve dates over a year with this one person and they ended up really happy together. They took it slow because both of them had stuff going on and didn't want to rush. It made me realize some people just need more time to feel sure about someone.
