Tried the fancy steakhouse for a first date vs a dive bar and oh boy
The steakhouse guy kept talking about his watch collection and the waiter spilled red wine on my only nice top. Dive bar dude bought me a PBR, we played pool, and he actually asked me questions about my job. Has anyone else found that spending more money makes the date feel more awkward not less?

Has the fancy place ever actually worked out for anyone you know?

My buddy Mike spent $400 at that steakhouse downtown for his 10th anniversary and honestly I thought he was throwing money away. I used to believe those places were just for showing off, not for actually having a good meal or a good time. But he told me the service was incredible, the sommelier picked a wine that matched their meal perfectly, and the chef sent out a free dessert because they were celebrating. They still talk about that night two years later, and I gotta admit, that changed my mind. Maybe the price tag buys you more than just food, it buys a memory that sticks with you.
