Did I waste $400 on a guest post that took 3 months to land, or was that just the cost of doing business?
I paid a blogger in Denver $400 back in January for a sponsored post that finally went live last week, and I am still trying to figure out if that slow turnaround was a red flag or just normal for niche sites. Part of me says I got burned by a site that sat on my draft for 11 weeks, but another part says the link is clean and the page actually ranks, so maybe slow and steady is the way. Where do you all draw the line on wait time before you write a site off and ask for your money back?
That "sat on my draft for 11 weeks" part is what I would want to unpack. Did the blogger actually tell you upfront that turnaround was slow, or did you find out by watching the calendar? The difference matters a lot here. If a site says "we publish in 2 to 4 weeks" and then goes silent for nearly three months, that is a broken promise, not slow and steady. But if they told you from day one that they batch posts quarterly, you basically knew what you signed up for. What did their rate page or email thread actually say about timing before you paid?
