My blog went from 50 visitors a day to 1,200 in 3 weeks after one stupid mistake

I was trying to build backlinks manually and accidentally left a dofollow link to my site in a reply on a huge industry forum. I thought I messed up, but within two weeks my referral traffic spiked like crazy. Turns out the thread got pinned by a mod, and my comment was the top one for a month. Has anyone else ever had a random accidental link blow up way harder than their actual outreach?

Wait, you're telling me you got a pinned thread by accident? I've been doing SEO for three years and never even gotten a mod to look at my comments. That's wild, like stumbling into a VIP section at a concert when you were just trying to find the bathroom. Your dumb luck is basically a masterclass in why manual outreach can be a total crapshoot.

Dumb luck is still luck" pretty much sums it up, but calling it a "stupid mistake" feels like underselling what actually happened. You left a high quality link in a relevant thread that got pinned, so really that's just good SEO with messy execution. Manual outreach wouldve taken way longer to hit that same result if it even worked at all.

Ngl I read somewhere that accidental wins like this actually happen more often than people think.
