Shoutout to the day I hit 50 backlinks from a single blog post

I wrote a guide on fixing a common Shopify glitch, and it ended up getting picked up by 10 different resource pages. That one post got me more links than three months of manual outreach. Has anyone else seen a random piece of content outperform their main strategy?

Oh wow, that's exactly how it goes sometimes isn't it? I've noticed this pattern everywhere, not just with backlinks but in real life too. Like how the quick dinner you threw together gets more compliments than the fancy meal you spent hours on. It's the same with content - the stuff that just solves one tiny annoying problem often hits harder because it's so specific and useful. @the_kevin is right about checking what made it work, my guess is the glitch fix was a real pain point people were desperate for. Have you tried tapping into that mindset for your next piece, like just looking at small frustrations people have and writing about those?

Skip the manual outreach for a bit and Double down on that kind of content. Take your best performing post and see if you can turn it into a resource hub with more tips, examples, or a checklist. Then hit up those same 10 sites and ask if they'd update their link to your newer better version. Works like a charm every time.

Funny how that works right? The stuff you actually put effort into sometimes flops and the random thing you threw together in an afternoon becomes your best link builder. If you haven't already, go check exactly what made that post work. Was it the headline that hit a specific pain point or maybe the structure with clear steps? Julia's advice is solid too but I'd also try turning that post into a video or a checklist pdf. Then email those same people back and offer them the new format to swap in. Just dont get too precious about it and keep cranking out content that solves one tiny annoying problem at a time.
