My brother gave me a half-used bottle of expired cologne for my birthday last year
I opened it and the smell was like old socks mixed with rubbing alcohol. He said he found it in the back of his closet and figured I could use it. Took me 3 months to figure out how to tell him I threw it away without starting a fight. Has anyone else gotten a gift that was clearly just someone else's trash?

Honestly I kind of get where your brother was coming from though. Some people genuinely don't think about expiration dates and they just see a bottle of cologne that's barely used and figure hey, it still smells decent. It's not like he was trying to pawn off literal trash, he just didn't realize how bad old cologne gets.

I used to think any gift was better than nothing, but a half empty bottle of expired cologne changed my mind real quick.
