Can we talk about the 2019 'The Lion King' remake? I saw it in a packed theater opening night.

I was at the AMC in Burbank, and the whole crowd went from excited to just silent and bored by the halfway point. The 'realistic' CGI made all the animals look dead behind the eyes, and they cut 'Be Prepared' down to a weird mumble. That movie made over a billion dollars, but it felt like a tech demo, not a story anyone needed. Has anyone else felt like a remake just completely missed the point of why the original worked?

That movie was a masterclass in how to drain all the life out of a story. Simba looked like a taxidermy project that learned to walk, and the "Circle of Life" scene had all the emotion of a nature documentary on mute. They spent all that money making the fur look real but forgot to give the characters souls. It's the only film where I've seen a theater full of people check their phones during "Hakuna Matata.

Wait, people actually checked their phones during Hakuna Matata? That's so sad.

My cousin fell asleep during the stampede scene.
