Rant: Saw the 2016 'Ben-Hur' remake on a flight and it ruined my whole trip

I was stuck on a 9-hour flight from Dallas to Frankfurt, and they had that 2016 remake of 'Ben-Hur' as an option. I watched it out of sheer boredom, and it was a complete mess that missed the entire point of the original's epic scale. Who even asked for a watered-down, CGI-heavy version of a classic that was already done perfectly? Has anyone else been tricked into watching a remake that just made you angry at the wasted potential?

Oh man, I feel your pain. That remake was such a letdown. They turned the huge, real feeling chariot race into a video game cutscene, and the story felt rushed and small. It's like they forgot what made the old one so powerful. Getting stuck with that on a long flight is the worst kind of bad luck.

You know, mark_thomas, I actually liked the remake more than the original. The old one drags in the middle and the new version got to the point faster for me. That chariot scene was over the top, but it was fun to watch. Maybe it's just different tastes, but I didn't feel let down at all.
