Tried watching the 2014 RoboCop remake after a buddy dared me to sit through it
I made it 30 minutes before I shut it off and put on the original - that new one strips out all the dark humor and makes Murphy's death way too clean for a R-rated movie. Has anyone else noticed how these PG-13 remakes totally miss the point of what made the originals work?

Yeah @simon717 I just think that scene doesn't hit as hard when they skip the grittier setup...

Respectfully gotta disagree. I actually liked that remake more than I expected. Sure it's cleaner and less gritty, but the whole point was showing how corporations sanitize everything including turning a man into a product. The scene where Murphy sees his old face for the first time and freaks out actually got me. Original is still better but the 2014 version has its own dark stuff, just more subtle.
