I finally had to pick between calling the cops or talking to my neighbor directly about the barking dog
I went with talking to her after three sleepless nights, and she actually apologized and started keeping the dog inside after 9 pm. Has anyone else had a calm conversation actually work out better than getting the authorities involved?

My buddy Steve had this neighbor who would fire up a leaf blower at like 7 am every Saturday right outside his bedroom window. He was about to call the city about noise complaints but his wife talked him into just knocking on the door and explaining he works late shifts. Turns out the guy had no idea Steve worked nights and felt really bad about it. They actually ended up talking for like 20 minutes about their schedules and now the leaf blower doesn't come out until like 10 am on weekends. Steve even got invited over for a barbecue last month and said it was totally worth avoiding the whole angry neighbor drama. Its wild how much people are willing to work with you if you just treat them like a normal human first.
