Spent $500 on a fancy fence to block my neighbor's view and it did nothing
I mean, my neighbor's deck looks right into my yard, so I paid a ton for a 6-foot privacy fence last fall. They just built a taller deck two months later. Now they can see over it again, and I'm out all that cash. Has anyone else had a neighbor just one-up them like that? What did you do next?

Planted a row of fast growing arborvitae behind my fence. Took a couple years, but now it's a full green wall they can't build past.

That "full green wall they can't build past" is a solid idea. I always figured a taller fence was the only answer, but your living barrier seems way smarter. Might have to copy that plan.

Yeah that "full green wall" part really hit me too. I mean I always thought you had to go with like a solid wood fence for it to actually work. But seeing how arborvitae fills in after a couple years, it makes way more sense. The living barrier just seems like it would blend in better and not look so aggressive. Plus I bet it's cheaper than building a whole new tall fence. Idk maybe it's just me but I never would have thought of that approach until now.
