Hit 500 sourdough starters on my counter last Sunday

I didn't even realize I had that many going until I counted them for a class I was teaching. 500 jars of bubbly flour water taking over my kitchen island. It made me think about how many of those starters probably got baked into real bread at home. Anyone else ever lose track of how many starters you've passed along to friends?

Used to think sourdough people were a little extra with the jar hoarding. Seeing 500 of them lined up like that actually makes me understand the appeal now. Might have to start giving more away myself.

Ha, yeah @jesser79 I read somewhere that starter jars basically become like pets after a while.
