My new $50 proofing basket was totally worth it
I finally dropped the cash on a proper banneton after using a mixing bowl lined with a kitchen towel for like two years. That little basket cost me around $50 on Amazon and it's made a huge difference in my bread. The first loaf I proofed in it came out with a perfect shape and that nice spiral pattern on top. My dough used to stick to the towel no matter how much flour I dumped on it. Has anyone else found that a cheap upgrade like this changed their baking game?

My 3 year old banneton split a seam last week and I just glued it back together with regular Elmer's.

Wait, you glued a banneton with Elmer's glue? Isn't that stuff toxic if it gets wet or heated? I feel like the humidity from the dough might break that bond down over time, not to mention the risk of glue particles ending up in your bread. Honestly I would've just bought a new one or tried some food-grade silicone sealer instead.

Elmer's glue isn't food safe. Gonna get crumbs of it in your bread.
