Unpopular opinion: cake strips are a waste of money and a wet towel does the same job
I baked 4 sponge layers for my niece's birthday in Bakersfield and the ones wrapped in a damp dish towel came out just as level as the ones with the $20 strip set, so has anyone else ditched the strips or am I just getting lucky?
