A regular told me my fades looked 'too harsh' and it made me switch up my blending

He said it felt like I was leaving a visible line between the guard lengths, especially on his skin tone. I mean, I'd been using the same method for years, but after that I started doing way more cross-checking with my clippers and spending an extra five minutes on each fade with my shears to soften it. Has anyone else gotten feedback that made you totally change a basic part of your cut?

That "visible line" comment is a perfect example of how one piece of honest feedback can break you out of autopilot. It happens in every job where you do the same thing over and over, you stop really seeing it. Sometimes you need that outside eye to point out what you've been missing for years.

I mean, maybe it's just me but I don't think one comment should make you rework your whole method. Some clients are just super picky about stuff nobody else notices. I'd probably just take it as one guy's opinion and keep doing what works for most people.
