Used to think clipper guards were all the same until I grabbed a cheap set off Amazon

The guards on my Wahl clippers started splitting after 2 months, so I tried a $10 set and they kept falling off mid-fade. Has anyone else had better luck with the Andis brand ones or should I just stick with factory parts?

Man, I've been using cheap Amazon clipper guards for over a year now and they work fine for me. The key is to make sure they snap on tight and fit your specific clipper model. If yours keep falling off, sounds like you just got a bad set, not that all cheap ones are junk.

@grantadams you might be lucky with those cheap ones but tolerances are a real thing. the plastic molds wear out fast on those dollar sets and after a few months the snap hooks get loose. i actually found that the factory guards are made of a different grade of plastic too. the cheap ones get brittle in cold weather and crack if you drop them. andis is decent but honestly the best fix is just buying oem replacements for your wahl. they cost a bit more but the plastic is more flexible and the clips actually lock in. ive seen barbers run the same factory guards for years without issues.

Bought a cheap Amazon set myself a few years back and had the same problem. They kept sliding off right when I was trying to do a clean line. Switched to a set of Andis snap-on guards and they've been solid for about three years now. They fit tight on my Oster clippers and the plastic hasn't cracked or warped. Think the main thing is the tolerances on the cheaper ones are just loose. You can get a good set for around twenty bucks and it saves you the headache of replacing them every couple months.
