Took me 6 months to realize I was greasing pedal threads wrong

I used to slather grease all over the threads before installing pedals. One day a customer showed me his seized pedal that I'd installed and I had to cut it off. Now I only put a thin film on the threads and it goes on way smoother. Anyone else learn this the hard way?

Right, slathering it on basically turns the threads into a paste-filled mess that seizes up tighter than dry threads ever would. A thin film is enough to stop corrosion without turning the pedal into a permanent fixture. Did you have to use heat to get that seized one off?

Learned the hard way" is an understatement, you greased the poor guy's pedal to death.

Yeah that must have been a nightmare to fix.
