I started tracking our game group's 'analysis paralysis' time and it changed everything

Honestly, our group in Austin would spend like 20 minutes just deciding on a game to play. Tbh, it was killing the mood before we even started. Last month, I made a simple rule: we vote on three options, and if there's a tie, we roll a die. Ngl, it cut our setup time in half. Now we actually play two full games in a night instead of one. Has anyone else found a good trick to stop the endless debate?

Our group in Denver had the same problem, we wasted a good 15 minutes every meetup just talking in circles. What finally worked was a rotating pick system, where a different person just chooses the game each week, no debate allowed. It sounds a bit bossy but it completely removed the stress. I like what @dakota_nelson43 said about random picks too, that's basically the same spirit of just getting on with it. We found that once someone just makes the call, everyone is happy to go along and start having fun. The whole mood is better when you're not stuck in that pre-game negotiation.

We just pick a game at random now and it saves SO much time.

Oh wow, that's actually a great idea. I used to spend forever trying to pick the "perfect" game, reading reviews and everything. @dakota_nelson43, you're right, it just eats up all the fun time. Now I see that just grabbing any game and starting to play is way better. It gets you right into the fun part instead of all the boring deciding. I'm totally trying the random pick method next time.
