My game night in Austin fell apart when two friends argued over a rule for 45 minutes.

We were playing a new area control game, and a disagreement about scoring a specific region stopped everything. I ended up looking up an official FAQ online to settle it, but the mood was already ruined. What's your best method for handling rule disputes without killing the fun?

Used to argue. Now I just vote and move on.

Our group has a hard 5 minute timer for any rule argument. After that, we make a quick group vote on a temporary rule and keep playing. We look up the official answer later, but never during the game. Letting a debate go for 45 minutes is what really wrecks the night, not being a little wrong. The goal is to keep the fun moving forward.

Our house rule is a three minute sand timer.
