Tried to glue a broken spine with hot glue last month. Big mistake.

So I had this old 1920s poetry book that was falling apart. Thought I'd save some money and fix it myself with a hot glue gun. Big nope. The glue seeped through every page crack and now the book won't open flat. Took it to a shop downtown and the guy just shook his head. Anyone else ever ruin something good by getting too cheap with supplies?

Hot glue's really not for books, that stuff dries like concrete. You gotta use something that stays flexible, like a proper bookbinding glue or even PVA. At least you learned before trying it on something really valuable, right?

Three times now I've seen people wreck good tools using cheap glue.

Did you see what kind of glue they were using?
