My friend's cactus in Phoenix flowered for the first time in 15 years
I was helping him move some pots and he told me it only blooms for one night every decade or so. Found a picture from the local garden club showing the exact species, and it said the flowers can be over 6 inches wide. Do you think that kind of patience is the real mark of a plant person, or is it more about constant growth?

That Arizona night-blooming cereus is LEGENDARY.

Honestly the hype feels overblown. Saw it bloom once and it was just a white flower that died by morning. The local news makes it a whole event, but it's basically a cactus doing its normal thing. People act like it's magic, but it's just biology. Kinda boring if you ask me.
