Appreciation post: my $19 rice cooker died on the stove at 6pm on a Tuesday and I dug out the old pot
The cheap nonstick finally gave up after what must have been 2 years of daily use, so I pulled the dented aluminum pot I got at a garage sale in Tulsa out of the back of the cabinet and honestly the rice came out better, which makes me wonder if anyone else has gone back to the ugly cookware they started with and never looked back?
Did you notice a difference in how the rice cooks, like maybe the heat spreads more even in the old pot? I always figured the cheap nonstick stuff was fine and the fancy ones were just marketing, but my mom's old Revere pot that she got as a wedding gift in the seventies has been sitting in my garage for years. Last month my $40 cooker quit on me and I dug that thing out just to get dinner on the table. The rice came out fluffy in a way I never got from the new stuff, and now I feel kind of silly for spending money on replacements all this time.
