My uncle swore by Craftsman for 30 years and switched to DeWalt after one Black Friday sale
He bought his first DeWalt drill in 2019 at a Lowe's in Dayton for $99 and now every tool in his garage is yellow, even though his old Craftsman stuff still works fine, so I gotta ask: did he actually get better tools or just a better sale?
I used to roll my eyes at guys who went all in on one brand after a single good buy. My dad was a die hard Craftsman guy and I figured switching colors was just falling for marketing. Then I borrowed a buddy's DeWalt impact driver for a deck build and the thing just felt tighter, less slop in the chuck, battery lasted all weekend on one charge. His old Craftsman stuff still runs, sure, but he's fighting stripped screws and dead batteries every other project. So now I get it, sometimes the sale is what gets you in the door but the tool is what keeps you there. Your uncle probably didn't get tricked, he just finally tried something that worked better for him.
